February News from Feral Knitter

New Teaching Events
I'll be teaching the 3-day Design Your Own Fair Isle workshop at Yarn in Eureka (in northern California) May 5-7.
Right now several other workshops are being set up in Ohio, Alaska, and Ontario, but they are not quite ready for publication. I'll let you know as soon as they get finalized!
Scotland & Shetland
There are a just few spots left in the trip to Scotland and Shetland that Amy Detjen and I are leading on August 25th - September 7th (sorry, the September trip is sold out). The itinerary is a fiber-lover's dream, and we'll have opportunities to explore Fair Isle knitting in depth with great teachers, meet Scottish knitters, visit Shetland museums, enjoy the highland scenery, purchase yarn, and explore the exciting big-city sights of Edinburgh.
Come on... you know you want to join us! Drop me a line if you are interested.
Happening at Madrona Fiber Arts
Madrona Fiber Arts, in Tacoma, Washington, is coming right up! February 16-19th at the Murano Hotel. There are lots of things to do, even if you aren't signed up for classes. On Saturday I'll be hosting a Fair Isle table in the Rotunda from 9 till 3—please stop and say hello! Bring your uncut steeks and I'll walk you through cutting your knitting; bring design uncertainties and I'll give you my advice. Or just come and introduce yourself!
Thursday night at Madrona in Charity night—the teachers share their talents on stage. I won't reveal what I'll be doing, but it's probably nothing you expect!!!
ENGLAND!
So excited—I'll be in London June 17-22. Let me know what fibery places I shouldn't miss!

Blog
I blogged again: Clothes That Rot, in which I explore my attempts to let go of my beloved fleece vests.
Quick note about the quotations I close with: I find so many things that inspire by following Brain Pickings, where I learn about books, artists, and philosophers that make me think.
Just because an object includes manufactured parts doesn’t mean it can’t reflect the touch of an individual creator’s hand:
the subtly uneven knit, the finger-marked clay, and all the other happy unmechanical surprises of human quirkiness.
